What is Wealth Management?
Wealth management is the accumulation, enhancement and preservation of wealth. As a client’s primary wealth advisor, we focus on all aspects of a client’s financial needs including defining financial goals, estate planning considerations, taxation, insurance needs, and retirement planning. We assist our clients in creating a personalized financial framework tailored to their specific situation.

How do you choose the specific investments for your clients?
The investment choices for each client are determined by the client’s specific needs. Based on the goals for each client and account, Capital Investment Counsel will work with the client to determine the overall investment allocation and types of investments to be used, including individual stocks, taxable and municipal bonds, and mutual funds.

What sort of statements will be provided?
Each investment management client receives, at least annually and as frequently as requested, an appraisal of the account reflecting diversification, current market value, cost basis, indicated income, and current yield. We provide a capital gain/loss summary.

Do I have a direct relationship with the portfolio manager?
You will have a primary portfolio manager as your point of contact with Capital Investment Counsel. We also have a team with over 367 years of combined experience to support your portfolio manager including a dedicated research division and stock and bond traders. Our people >

How often will we communicate?
Investment professionals will make every best effort to regularly communicate with clients and/or schedule client meetings to review a client's portfolio, performance, market conditions, financial circumstances, and investment objectives, among other things, to confirm the firm's investment decisions and services are consistent with the client's objectives and goals.

Does CIC manage tax gains?
Capital Investment Counsel does take tax considerations into account when trading. Determination of these consequences and your individual tax situation is an integral part of the overall Wealth Management process.

What fees and charges can I expect?
Capital Investment Counsel is a fee only advisor. We are compensated solely by our clients. Depending on additional activity in the account, there may be commissions or other fees charged by the brokerage firm or custodian of your account.

How often will my account be reviewed?
Reviews of individual accounts are conducted at least monthly and more frequent reviews are triggered by researching a specific security and/or a strategic change in asset allocation. All accounts are reviewed by their specific Portfolio Manager who maintains the relationship and meets the needs of the client.

How often do you buy or sell?
The amount of buys and sells will be determined by the target for each investment, overall market, and client needs. Historically, a typical portfolio will experience about 30% turnover per year.
